The American sailor fancy dress has been a very popular uniform due to the love affair that Richard Gere created in the chic flick An Officer and a Gentleman.

 

Recent films such as Pearl Harbour with Ben Afflick and Matt Damon have also been a helping factor in the popularity of the fancy dress.

 

The American Navy often use white uniforms such as the one in the picture to your right, these are usually what is known as number one costumes which are the dress costumes that you see in parades.
